Professor Tim Jones assumed the role of Vice-Chancellor at the University of Liverpool in January 2023. Prior to his current role, Tim held significant leadership positions at both the University of Birmingham, where he served as Provost and Vice-Principal, and the University of Warwick, where he contributed as Interim Provost, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Science, Engineering and Medicine, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Knowledge Transfer, and Business Engagement.
With an additional nearly 17 years at Imperial College London, Tim Jones has an impressive background in academic leadership, particularly within the field of advanced materials research. This deep technical expertise, coupled with his leadership roles, has made him a respected figure in both the academic and research communities.
In addition to his academic work, Tim has been actively involved in the broader research and innovation agenda. He has served on the boards of prominent organisations such as the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), the Welsh Science and Innovation Advisory Council, and the Alan Turing Institute.
As an alumnus of the University of Liverpool, Professor Jones is deeply connected to the Liverpool City Region and has a unique perspective on its academic and innovation landscape.
